Discord is a freeware VoIP-application and a digital distribution platform designed for videogame communities specialized in text, image, video- and audio communication between users inside a chat channel. Discord works on macOS, Windows, Android, iOS, Linux and in a webbrowser.

During this project I worked alone, acting as my own client. The project was open meaning I had to formulate my own assignment. To make use of this opportunity I wanted to design for a device I never designed before: ‘Apple Watch’. I have a keen interest in videogames, so I wanted to design something related to gaming. After doing some research I found an interesting request. I noticed some Discord users requested a Discord smartwatch application. This was to be my design assignment, a Discord application for Apple Watch.

The concept is to bring Discord on Apple Watch. I learned out of research its better to rethink features of the existing smartphone/ desktop application then to simply shrink the application to smartwatch. So I came up with a new feature for Discord: ‘In game-assist”. Here the application would assist the user (gamer) while playing videogames. Furthermore I focused on alerts, such as planned group alerts/ raid schedules, polls and sharing.
